Biography
Tracey Ison was born in the midlands in February 1970 and spent her early years growing up in the small village of Earl Shilton before moving with her family to the neighbouring town of Hinckley where she still lives today with her husband Paul, their much loved whippets Izzy and Misty, partially sighted, rescue whippet-cross Scout and two incredibly tolerant cats Daisy and Jasmine.
As a child, Tracey’s love for animals of all different shapes and sizes became very apparent to all and the house where she grew up in was shared with a succession of cats, dogs and assorted small furries.
As a teenager, Tracey was lucky enough to secure a training placement at a local veterinary practice where she embarked on a career as a veterinary nurse that has grown and flourished over the years and which still fills her with an enormous sense of pride and fulfilment.
Tracey has also been involved in dog rescue for many years and feels privileged to be able to work alongside a local dog rescue, East Midlands Dog rescue where she volunteers as an on-site veterinary nurse once a week and is also one of a small team of fundraisers. Over recent years, she has also become a board member and trustee of the charity.
Throughout her life, Tracey has been writing stories about animals and her first book “For the love of Hounds – a story of life, love, loss and licks” draws on the experiences and knowledge that she has gained, both as a veterinary nurse and as a dog owner.
Tracey is lucky enough to be able to spend her spare time with like-minded dog owners who share a commitment to help dogs in rescue and she continues to feel blessed to be amongst such people.
