Molly and the Tornado tells about the Greensburg twister from the perspective of Matt’s dog, Molly. It is a children’s book with high-quality illustrations. The story begins the afternoon of the tornado, continues through the actual tornado, and then follows the clean up of Greensburg by volunteers from across the nation.
Matt Deighton is an entrepreneur whose ventures have included a wildly popular Texas restaurant, and a boutique condiment called Duck Salt. After his home was destroyed in the Greensburg, Kansas EF5 tornado in May of 2007, he worked as the Volunteer Coordinator during the clean up and rebuilding efforts. Today, along with his beloved Dalmatian, Molly, he devotes much of his energy to the ‘New York Says Thank You Foundation’.
